Leadership Team
George Schluessel
Since 1979, George has been recognized as one of Alberta’s most influential contributors in the real estate development industry. He directs and leads acquisitions, negotiations, and developments, including design, strategic growth, capital allocation, asset management, and partnership opportunities.
George has been instrumental in piloting the company through numerous downturns as well as significant growth, to where ProCura is now recognized as one of the largest private transit-integrated landowners in Alberta. In 2008, George was named one of Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture Magazine in recognition of his significant impact on the growth of Edmonton and Calgary. Most recently George was also named a finalist for the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2018.
Sherry Schluessel
With nearly 30 years in real estate, Sherry applies her extensive industry knowledge, expertise, and insights to drive and maintain ProCura’s impressive growth. She provides mentorship and coaching for the company’s strategic planning, sales and marketing, partner relations, and business development.
Believing strongly in renewal and reinvestment in urban neighbourhoods, Sherry’s leadership enabled the completion of signature projects, such as Mayfair Village South, one of Edmonton’s largest attainable housing developments, and the redevelopment of the Intact Insurance Building, which received the BOMA BEST® Gold and LEED® Gold – Core & Shell certifications.
In 2014, Sherry founded Signs of Change, a charitable initiative advocating partnerships between businesses, communities, and not-for-profit organizations. To date, Signs of Change has raised over $400,000 for youth-focused charities. Sherry was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. In addition to this Sherry has also recently been nominated for the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2018.
Michael Surkovic
Michael has more than 20 years of commercial, residential, and institutional real estate experience. As a performance-focused, hands-on professional with a proven record of achievement in property management, commercial and corporate finance, and asset/portfolio management Michael brings a solution-driven approach with a high degree of dedication, organization, and integrity.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Economics and Finance, and is a Level 3 Certified General Accountant (CGA).
Danish Wasim
Danish is responsible for managing ProCura’s financial position and securing the company’s financial strength. He applies his expertise in forecasting to ensure the feasibility of future development projects while building and maintaining relationships with lenders and investors.
Prior to joining ProCura, Danish developed his career in the banking and financing industry and acquired a Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick.
